What stories can we write from certain images?  She is one of my favorite singers: April, red hair, Vogue. What kind of story about April would this be.

This image reminded me of a garden of months. I'm not sure what story I'd write, but I'd like to try.

The dress wasn't quite right, more like something for going out and trying to look sexy rather than being celebrating the risen Christ.
It's the sentence I came up with off the top of my head for the first picture. The second picture's sentence: He had to buy new gardening sheers to carve this month out of trees.
Those are my sentences. Might try to write a short story based on these images.

What's Your Cause?

A petition circling on Facebook had me thinking about causes and writing fiction or poetry or nonfiction. The petition was to get facebook to take down a page called cancer is funny cause it kills. That page is just wrong and so many people are following. My question to you is what is the cause that you support, in however way that you support it. Write a piece with that cause in mind. I'll post my response soon. In the mean time, happy writing.

Waiting Room

You're in a waiting room, maybe waiting for your car or a loved one or anything that you can think of. Imagine the things that can happen.

It was quiet with everyone involved in their activities; reading, computing, or quietly talking. The TV was barely audible or else not noticeable. I looked at my watch. How many more hours did I have at the dealership. Restlessness was not the mood to be waiting for anything, especially something that had to do with vehicles. At least I wasn't at the Department of Motor Vehicles. I read a book by Jodi Picoult. One of the character's job was to wait in line for other people; wait in ticket lines before you used your cell phone to purchase tickets, or wait in the DMV and probably wait for cars to be ready. She said she was a waiter, waiting in lines for people who didn't have the time and could afford not to have to wait in line. Lucky to be rich. When I read that scene, I wondered how much she got paid to be that kind of waiter. It was bad enough waiting for me, but to wait for someone else.

Someone walked in the waiting room and everyone looked up from our activities.

This is what I came up with and I might expand upon it. I kind of like it, can see the diamond in this rough shape.

Happy Writing!

FESTIVALS

What festivals have you attended or what festivals have you always wanted to attend.
Always lots of fun, the Dodge poetry festival.  Austin Texas has lots of music festivals. What stories can be written about festivals; New Orleans Jazz Fest.  My dad used to take his family when my sister and were children. So much food, but my favorite is the French Quart Festival. You didn't have to pay to get in and the food was plentiful and inexpensive.
Delicious food. What festivals can you think of writing a story about or setting a story at.
HAPPY WRITING!

What happens when it rains where you are? I have my stories.

Recently, the power went out at Edgewood. Most of us were gathered at Kroger's after the store kicked everyone out. I crossed the street from Barnes and Nobles because an employee decided to ask everyone to leave when it became clear that the power wasn't going to come on. Kroger's stayed open for a little while. People continued to run out of their cars in the pouring rain. This is rain powerful enough to knock out the power in the stores at Edgewood. Makes me wonder what they had to buy. They could have been on their way before the rain got heavy and decided to keep driving.

Hurricane Katrina is the storm I can't forget. Need to start writing my rainy day stories.

Choose a year...

#1 Choose a year, and then choose a month.  That is your story.

My year is 1988 and my month is June.
What can you write that includes roller skates and an urn?
